The spindle gear screw is a replacement part made by Hayward. The same high-quality materials were used to manufacture the original factory part. Making this a genuine OEM product.
This screw was designed for the spindle assembly and its goal and purpose is to lock down the spindle gear as well as the spindle gear bushing to the upper middle body. This way these parts can do their job of transferring rotating power from the medium turbine to the cone gear so that the cleaner can change directions from either right to left.
This part is metallic just like any other average screw and is self-tapping so when you install the screw we do not recommend using a drill as it can over tighten the screw, causing damage to the surrounding parts. At that point, they would need to be replaced.
