The gearbox assembly is a replacement part that was made by Hayward. The same high-quality materials were used to manufacture the original factory part. Making this a genuine OEM product.
This gearbox is the “brain” of the cleaner as it operates the majority of the gears and parts that need rotating power to operate. This gearbox is also responsible for controlling when to turn the cleaner in a different direction so the cleaning pattern changes allowing it to cover the entire concrete surface of the in-ground pool.
This part is small and shaped like a box on its top side while the lower half is shaped to conform to the cleaner’s lower middle body fitting snugly into place so it cannot move. The box also includes the little red 3/4 disc that allows water to travel up through to the medium turbine when the disc has uncovered the opening on the gearbox, it rotates all the gears in the upper middle body including the cone gear which turns the cleaner in another direction (left or right).
