The hose protector is a replacement part that was made by Pentair. The same high-quality materials were used to manufacture the original factory part. Making this a genuine OEM product.
The hose protector was designed to shield the section of the hose kit that sticks out from the skimmer. As the cleaner moves around the surface of the pool so does the hose and it rubs against the skimmer’s outer surface which can deteriorate this section of the hose quite quickly. While also marking or damaging the surface on which the hose rests and moves along while the cleaner is operating.
This part is white and resembles a mesh-like screen, it is meant to slide and fit over the top of the beginning section of the hose kit which attaches to the regulator valve inside of the skimmer. It is very simple and easy to remove and replace as there are no tools or strong forces required to do so.
